The Story
Get My Color (GMC) is a new, direct-to-consumer, white-label gel polish brand, recently launched by Kote Labs, a wholesale supplier that typically works with large organisations. The goal behind GMC is to offer smaller businesses, such as spas and beauticians, their own, personalised gel polish brand.

The team at Kote Labs came to us for a bespoke e-commerce platform that would drive conversions, demonstrate the viability of the proposed business model, and have the capacity to scale in the future.
To bring GMC to life online we first mapped out the user flow, identifying not just the initial brief, but also options that GMC could add later down the line. Mapping this out in advance is essential to ensure any new functionality on the site can be easily integrated in the future.

The UX design work heavily focussed on conversions and ensuring that the user experience was streamlined and clean. As Get My Color is an entirely new concept, we also designed the branding and brought that to life across the site’s UI.

From a technical standpoint, this site is an entirely bespoke e-commerce platform, developed in Laravel. This gave us the flexibility to build parts of the user journey ourselves, rather than using ‘out of the box’ solutions from solutions such as Shopify or Craft Commerce.
One particularly challenging part of the project was working with the DHL API to build a bespoke checkout and shipping integration. Get My Color is based in Latvia, but ships across Europe. This means there are multiple currencies and varying VAT rates to consider, depending on the location of the buyer.
To ensure the success of the API integration, we went through multiple rounds of testing to ensure that every version of the checkout process delivered the correct taxes and shipping fees.

The team at Get My Color has a lot of exciting plans for the business in the future, beyond just a straightforward e-commerce site. We chose to use Laravel to ensure we had the flexibility to easily add many more complex functionalities to the website and realise the vision that GMC has for the future.
Rapid Load Speeds
Another great benefit of using Laravel is that the site is very lightweight with fast-loading photos and videos and rapid speed scores. We designed each product page with conversions in mind, including a clear showcase of the colour range and plenty of upsell opportunities integrated throughout.
