After a great 2011 the guys at Strafe Creative are going to start 2012 with a bang and have signed up for the new Adidas thunder run. The Adidas Thunder Run is a 24 hour off road relay race against the clock. We’ll be running in a small team of 4 and its designed to test your tactics, endurance, speed and team work. It’s all for a good cause which is the Charity CP Sport. From what we’ve heard its going to very tiring but very rewarding as well! Here a bit of information taken from the site to give you all an idea of what we’ll be putting ourselves through.

What to expect:
You can set up camp either the night before or the morning of the race to start soaking up the atmosphere. Once you’re geared up, your first runner will assemble at the start line at 12pm and when the claxon goes, together you won’t finish for 24 hours.

The rules:
One team member must be on the course at all times during the 24hrs. Runners must complete one full 10km lap before changing over with a team mate but may run 2, 3 or more laps at a time before changeover. The team with the most laps completed when the clock stops after 24hrs will win.

We’ll keep you posted on how the training is going, but for a new year resolution, this should be a good one!

Once we have the just giving page started we’ll keep you all informed more. Wish us luck!

Having recently got involved with the Nottingham Rotary Club, we were given the opportunity to get involved with a local Nottingham charity called “When Katie Smiles” as well as the Salvation Army on Aspley Lane. The idea being to help spread that Christmas cheer!

We were tasked to collect old unwanted toys from families, give them a spruce up and repackage them all as Christmas presents, then with the help of the Rotary guys and the Salvation army a sleigh had been rented and Santa would be delivering these gifts to under-privileged families across Nottinghamshire.

It has been an honour to be involved with such a great cause and below is a select of the gifts the chaps at Strafe Creative managed to collect for the charity. Look out for information in the New Year regarding how success this was!

REAM International is a London based real estate company led by highly experienced industry professionals supported by a multi-national network of associates. REAM’s involvement in the designer outlet retailing sector began in the early 1990′s, since then they have continued to influence the development and direction of the industry throughout Europe. As development consultants, REAM has launched the concept in many new markets and delivered successful projects in many European countries.

Brief

Since its inception, REAM (Real Estate and Asset Management) has grown significantly, operating in several countries throughout Europe and the world. In support of the business growth it was decided to redevelop an aging brand image to target specific clients within the industry. A complete rebrand of the business identity and print material was required aswell as a newly launched website which reflected their values. The brief stated that the identity was kept to their original ideas as to satisfy their loyal older generation of customers, but also appeal and attract newer, targeted client base.

Solution

Following research into the brand with the directors, Strafe Creative identified the business’s key values and developed a brand which exuded professionalism and quality, the values which originally attracted their existing clients some 20 years ago. The brand was imaged onto all business stationary and presentation material which they would use all over Europe. A website was built including a client login area which has helped the company expand their portfolio as it a new way for them to interact with their clientele.

CleanStreet Advertising is a guerrilla advertising company based in the heart of UK in Nottingham with a view to advertising in two distinct manners. These being; seen and selling to the public in places you wouldn’t normally expect and secondly with one eye always on the lovely mother earth, meaning everything they do is environmentally friendly. A personal favourite of Strafe Creative’s is the clean graffiti service. This involves cleaning sections of dirt off to craft clever and eye catching advertisements.

Brief

To design a brand image specifically tailored to the possibility of being made into a large stencil so it can be easily used in all the companies’ guerrilla advertising. But to still have the effect of being a modern and stylish design which would look great across a multiple of media ensuring an obvious link with the environment was also essential for the branding.

Solution

The brand for CleanStreet advertising was given a sleek, modern style using a bold, specially designed font (just for them!) and a prominent yet clearly environmental colour pallet. This created a bold, unique brand style which is exactly what their company is all about. It helps them stand out from any other marketing company and really encapsulates the company beliefs. (As we like their work so much we even recommend them to our clients)

After a few brief phone call interviews and even briefer photography shoot, Strafe Creative had made it to the finals of the European Entrepreneur awards for EMIN. A month or so went by and we presumed we hadn’t won anything until one lovely sunny day we received a proof of the final booklet which featured all the winners! Half way through the book is a rather smart look picture of our two directors as well as a great interview with them. A great award for us to win and hopefully we can continue this momentum in the future. Here’s a quick snap of the finished brochure which we feature in.

STILL SMALL VOICE (SSV) is a fashion company specialising in digitally printed silk dresses. They are a fresh, new fashion label who has introduced an experimental, illustration based concept to all their garments, all of which are made solely in the UK. SSV concentrate on bespoke, limited edition collections, offering the retailer exclusivity to their chosen designs and flexibility with order quantities to cater to their individual needs.

Brief

The directors of this new company have working in the fashion industry for many years and have a thorough understanding of what it takes to succeed in this highly competitive market. Knowing this the brief was highly detailed and set clear goals for us chaps at Strafe Creative. The brand was to have a strong personality which linked directly with the style of clothing they produced. Colours for the brand were to be taken directly from their recent line of clothes and we were given to task of mixing these ingredients together to make a fantastic fashion brand.

Solution

So, how do you display the creativity and passion of a new fashion line who all have years of experience? Well we decided to keep it all about the clothing; taking colours and style hints from their recently designed line we transformed their fashion concepts into a stylish simple brand which really would let the clothes do the talking. The brand has a playful accent to it which we felt was an important part to the company. A highly enjoyable project to work on and we even got some new clothes out of it, always a winner. After launching their new brand the designers at SSV almost instantaneously won pitches to stock their garment in top boutique fashion stores in London.

Founded in 1992, University of Lincoln has origins tracing back to the foundation and association with the Hull School of Art 1861. The university in recent years has established itself as a progressive institution, with large progress in the official university rankings; having risen 60 places in 4 years. The Sundays Times Newspaper, responsible for The Times ‘Good University Guide’, recently described UL’s progression as ‘The most dramatic transformation of a university in recent times. (A good time to begin working with them!)

Brief

With another open day upon them and the ever expanding university building portfolio, the heads of university realised all new sign-age was going to be needed for all their students and possible prospects to find their way around the expansive campus. With tender application in hand Strafe Creative immediately entered the university showing our array of sign-age completed over the years, we were awarded with the tender and quickly got down to the work.

Solution

Working closely with the marketing department of Lincoln university, Strafe Creative created all new sign-age which was used across all the Lincoln sites. This ranged from pavement direction signs to banners used for specific days and to welcome the prospective students.

Mark shaw has kindly written an article about us, (quick bio on him first we think) Mark Shaw founded Jupiter Design in 1997, after building a creative studio for seven years. He sold his shares in the company in 2009 after making it the UK’s second largest design for print agency in the UK.

Amongst many of his new ventures is writing a weekly column in the Nottingham Post called “Mark Shaw’s Creative Nottingham“. It focuses on all of the great work going on in the creative industries within Nottingham. It just so happens that this week he thinks us lovely chaps here at Strafe Creative are accomplishing some great work and has kindly written an article about us. Not that you’ll be able to read it but here’s a quick snapshot of the paper for you all to see.
